Sunday Evenings

Caitlin goes to sleep around 7:30, so Teresa and I normally have time to enjoy an hour or two watching TV or getting ready for the week.  Tonight, though, Brendan is still in the hospital, and Teresa is there with him.  We're only a ten minute drive from one another, but it is tough being apart!  I've been mostly on toddler duty, while Teresa keeps a close eye on the infant.  Thankfully, we've had Teresa's sister Bekah in town helping us.  She's done so much around the house that I think we are finally feeling more ready for this little peanut to come home.

Speaking of coming home; I am sure you are all ready for an update about that!  Brendan has transitioned into a crib from his isolette, and they are keeping an eye on his temperature to make sure he maintains it on his own.  So far he is doing well.  I think he will come home Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.  I am grateful for the NICU doctors and nurses keeping a close eye on him and making sure he is all ready to go before going home.  Mostly, though, I am just looking forward to having my family under one roof again!

I plan on getting videos onto the blog soon, but I don't have the time to do that tonight.  Something to look forward to soon!

I don't want to take a nap!

Let's Get This Boy Home!

Why is he still taking my picture?

This is my awake face
Brendan is getting closer and closer to coming home.  We're still not sure exactly when that will be, but we know it will be here soon!  He's about ready to transition to a crib from his isolette, and once that happens he will be about ready.  He gained weight today, so that is a positive!

His big sister is anxious to meet him.  I (Nick) have been spending lots of quality time with Caitlin, but she definitely is in need of some mommy time.  Thankfully her Aunt Bekah is here to be a good stand in!

Going down the slide all by herself!
Notice my startled face
This past week is still surreal; a week ago at this time we were getting back from dinner with friends and a snow storm was about to hit.  Tomorrow it's supposed to be 60 degrees, and I'm no longer the only man around!  Thank you to everyone who has sent us prayers and good wishes recently; we appreciate it!  We look forward to everyone being able to meet Brendan in person soon!

Can't wait to see all of you soon!

What a show off!

Well almost 2 years ago I was having a minor meltdown as they debated and eventually put my sweet daughter,  Caitlin, on a ventilator. She needed help from the great staff at Shawnee Mission Medical Center's NICU, but took off and only ended up staying there for 15 days.

When we finally came to terms with Teresa being in labor five and a half weeks before Brendan was due I was ready. I expected him to have every bit of trouble Caitlin had and then some.

But... that hasn't happened. He's still in the NICU as I type this, and I don't know when he'll be ready to come home yet, but he's breathing great. He's eating well. He might now be off of IV fluids. He's just loving right along!

Caitlin better watch out!

Happy Birthday Brendan!

Another Dailey born early!

Halloween!

Caitlin is now entering first holiday season, kicked off by Halloween.  As fun as it was to dress her up (and I am sure she loved being in an elephant suit!) I think she and I both were more excited about Teresa getting back from a 5 day work trip.  We celebrated by eating at Blanc Burgers + Bottles.  I took some pictures of Caitlin the elephant first, though, and I think she looks pretty darn cute if I do say so myself.  So what if I saw multiple babies with the same costume!

6 Month Update!

Wow am I late on this one.  Many things happened since we last posted.  Caitlin started daycare, she rolls with the best of them, she's been to two weddings, and Grandma and Grandpa just visited!

I am going to do my best to keep this update more now (I am sure no one believes that), but for now, let's post some pictures.  More will be coming when I get them on the computer.
